STYLE GUIDE

Jérôme’s approach to Black & White photography is about emotion, expression, and connection—not the clothing itself. Your wardrobe should complement the story, allowing the focus to remain on the relationships and feelings captured in the portrait.

Attire & Style
We recommend semi-formal or casual-chic clothing that fits well and feels comfortable. While tuxedos and formal wear are not necessary, well-structured, simple outfits work best.

Colors & Tones
Since this session is in black and white, colours themselves do not matter. However, dark solid tones photograph best, enhancing contrast and ensuring focus remains on the subject’s face. Avoid bright whites, pastels, bold patterns, and logos.

Accessories & Details
Minimalist accessories work best. Shoes and jewelry should complement your outfit without drawing attention away from the portrait.

Variety & Personal Expression
Bringing a second outfit provides variety in your final images. Additionally, feel free to incorporate meaningful items, such as musical instruments, books, or heirlooms, to personalize your portrait.

Final Touches

  • Grooming: Keep hair styled, nails neat, and makeup natural.
  • Undergarments: Ensure a good fit to avoid visible lines.
  • Skin & Hydration: Minor blemishes will be retouched, so relax and enjoy.
  • Glasses: If wearing glasses, consider lenses with a non-reflective coating.

The Presence of Place

Portraits are commissioned in quiet, light-filled environments—from Miami’s Design District and the refined pace of Yorkville in Toronto, to the historic stillness of Ottawa and Montreal, and the restorative calm of Mont-Tremblant in the Laurentians.
