Artistic Portraits, Finished As Mixed Media Artworks

Jérôme Scullino’s Artistic Portraits are not merely captured; they are built. These works exist at the intersection of photography and traditional painting, resulting in a three-dimensional, tactile object that defies the digital age. This is the practice of turning a moment of presence into a permanent physical legacy.

"It is difficult to express how much I love the pieces you made for our family… I just savour them every day. I also get a BIG reaction from visitors who see the artworks."

The Private Atelier

My practice is centered in private home ateliers located in the residential hearts of Toronto (Yorkville), Miami (Design District), Montreal, and Ottawa. These are natural environments designed for the unhurried study of a subject. By appointment only.

The Encaustic Commission

Each piece begins as a black-and-white Artistic Portrait, which is then transitioned into a physical artwork using centuries-old encaustic techniques. We hand-work the surface with layers of organic beeswax and oil pigments, creating a tactile, three-dimensional object.

The result is a one-of-a-kind archival masterwork—a finished piece of art intended to be lived with, collected, and passed down as a permanent legacy.

Jerome photographed our family, including our Great Dane. [...] It's a piece of art that has real meaning to us and will get passed down to our daughter eventually.
