OTTAWA PORTRAIT STUDIO

Fine-Art Portraits & Mixed-Media (Bank & Somerset)

I create fine art portraiture for individuals and families in Ottawa who value depth, sincerity, and the quiet power of being truly seen. Sessions take place in studio, in a space designed for trust and attentiveness—where conversations soften, time slows, and portraits unfold naturally.

Where it all began

Ottawa is where this work began.

In 2002, when Nisha and I moved here, she saw something in my early photographs and encouraged me to open my first studio in Canada. What started as a small, quiet practice quickly became something deeper—a place where people came not just to be photographed, but to be understood.

Ottawa shaped the way I work. It taught me patience, listening, and respect for subtle moments. The studio here is the foundation of everything that followed—a beginning that still informs every portrait I create today.

Portraits Rooted in Trust and Presence

Portraits here are never rushed or performed.

Each session is approached as a quiet collaboration—time intentionally set aside to listen, connect, and allow something honest to surface. The studio removes distraction and expectation, creating space for presence rather than perfection.

Whether photographed alone or with the people who matter most to you, the focus is always the same: attention, care, and the subtle moments that reveal who you are—without asking you to become anything else.

Client Story — A Quiet Kind of Radiance

Lina & Mariette

At our Ottawa portrait studio, every session is about more than just photographs—it’s about connection, presence, and the courage to be seen.

When Mariette came to the studio, she was here for her sister, Lina. She wanted to celebrate Lina’s journey, capturing her in a way that felt authentic and true. Mariette had always been hesitant to step in front of the camera. “No pictures of me alone, please,” she said at first.

But in that quiet studio space—where trust and empathy guide every portrait—something shifted. Mariette let herself breathe. She smiled. She felt safe to be seen.

“It wasn’t as scary as I thought,” Mariette later shared. “It was fun. I love my picture.”

That’s what our Ottawa portrait studio is all about: creating a space where sisters, families, and individuals alike feel comfortable and celebrated. Every session is more than a photoshoot—it’s an experience of belonging.

We believe that sometimes laughter and love create unexpected courage. This is where your story unfolds, beautifully captured in black-and-white or timeless mixed media art.

That is what the Ottawa studio is about—creating a space where people feel safe enough to be themselves. Every session is more than a photograph. It’s a moment of belonging, captured with care.

Black & White Portraits or Handcrafted Mixed-Media Artwork

Every portrait begins as a photograph, but how it is finished is a thoughtful decision made together.

Some clients are drawn to classic black & white fine-art portraits—quiet, timeless, and grounded in expression. Others choose a handcrafted mixed-media artwork, where the image is transformed by hand using beeswax and oils into a deeply personal heirloom.

There is no right answer. During your session and viewing, we explore both approaches and choose what feels most aligned with you, your story, and your home.

Black & White Fine-Art Portraits or a handcrafted Artistic Portrait? Compare both and choose your best option.

Serving Ottawa and the National Capital Region

Families and individuals visit the studio from across the National Capital Region, from the Glebe and Westboro to Rockcliffe Park, Old Ottawa South, and beyond. Many also travel from Chelsea, Wakefield, Gatineau, and surrounding communities.

Sessions are by appointment in our Ottawa studio, where portraits are crafted with the intention of living on your walls, and in your family’s story, for years to come.

A Portrait Experience Designed to Be Lived With

Every portrait is finished as an heirloom artwork, printed on archival materials and prepared with longevity in mind. Nothing is mass-produced. Each piece is reviewed, refined, and completed with care before it leaves the studio.

If you’re unsure what would suit your space or your story, we’ll guide you quietly through scale, finish, and presentation—helping you choose what will feel right not just today, but years from now.

The Presence of Place

Portraits are commissioned in quiet, light-filled environments—from Miami’s Design District and the refined pace of Yorkville in Toronto, to the historic stillness of Ottawa and Montreal, and the restorative calm of Mont-Tremblant in the Laurentians.
