Mixed Media Portraits

These portraits are not images.
They are built by hand.

What begins in the studio becomes a physical object, layered with wax, pigment, and time.

Family mixed media portrait of parents with two daughters displayed as large wall art in a bright living room.

"It is difficult to express how much I love the pieces you made for our family… I just savour them every day. I also get a BIG reaction from visitors who see the artworks."

The Studio Practice

Each piece begins as a monochrome portrait.
From there, it is worked by hand using encaustic, with layers of wax and pigment built slowly into the surface.

The result is a singular object.

"Jerome photographed our family, including our Great Dane. [...] It's a piece of art that has real meaning to us and will get passed down to our daughter eventually."
