Where are you from?
It’s the question I get asked most—and I never tire of it.
I was born in the South of France, in a small village called Saint-Raphaël, nestled between Cannes and Saint-Tropez. My roots run deep: my father is Italian, my mother Spanish. We spent our winters in Val d’Isère, where my parents ran a hotel. Summers by the Mediterranean, winters in the Alps—I had the best of both worlds.
Photography began in boarding school at 11, down in the valley where the nearest middle school was. I joined the photo club. Then came England at 14—where I found a darkroom and got lost in it.
By 19, I was in New York, studying Creative Writing and Anthropology. A few months later, I landed in the Dominican Republic and began my first photography job with Foto Plata. It was old school: learn by doing, learn by watching, learn by messing up.
By 21, I had my own business, a publication to my name, and my first award. I opened my Canadian studio in 2002. The journey hasn’t slowed down since.
Where do you live now?
I split my time between Ottawa, Toronto, and Mont-Tremblant. I visit Miami often, as I love that city, and check in on my studio there once in a while.
Mont-Tremblant is home—it’s where I recharge. Ottawa and Toronto are where my Canadian story unfolded, one portrait at a time. And Miami? It’s my newest chapter. Full of life, light, and possibility.
I spend about four days in each city every month. Each one brings its own rhythm, its own inspiration. It keeps the work alive—and keeps me grounded in what matters most.
Who’s on your team?
This is not a solo act. It’s a family effort.
Nisha—my wife—is the soul of this studio. She hand-paints our Mixed Media artwork and leads our exhibitions and events with grace and presence.
Anousha, our eldest daughter, assists me in the studio. She handles social media, black-and-white remastering, and so much of the magic behind the scenes.
Aimée, our youngest, is 11 years old and already our fiercest supporter.
Leo, our dog, adds chaos (but the lovable kind).
Magda works from Montreal and keeps us connected with clients. And in Florida, Natalia manages everything we throw her way—with calm, care, and a sense of humor we probably don’t deserve.
Why do you do this work?
My Truth
I’m not just creating portraits.
I’m creating space—
a space where others feel seen,
because I’m finally letting myself be seen too.
Even if silently.
Even if only through my work.
Photography began as survival,
but now, it feels like solace—
a holiday from noise,
a return to presence.
In those moments behind the camera,
I offer others what I never fully received:
Gentle attention.
Permission to be seen.
A moment free from judgment.
An invitation to exist without earning it.
This is no longer just what I do.
This is who I am becoming.
But still, always a seeker.

What’s your favorite photo you’ve ever taken—and why?
My two daughters, playing and full of joy together.
For me, there is no better reward and greater pleasure than to see the two most important beings in my life get along.
